An inclusive and supportive Primary School in Newton Heath is looking to appoint a caring and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half term. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be based within the school's small SEN provision, working with pupils of varying ages who have a range of additional learning, social, and emotional needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

  • Assist with learning activities, adapting materials and approaches to meet individual needs

  • Support children's social and emotional development, promoting independence and confidence

  • Work closely with the SENCo and class teachers to implement tailored learning strategies

  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Contribute to pupil progress by offering encouragement, structure, and consistency

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with additional needs (autism, ADHD, speech & language, or social/emotional difficulties preferred)

  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
