About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a leading client in the rail industry on a contract basis. This position will be based out of Manchester, operating in a hybrid model (3 days on site, 2 from home). This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile rail infrastructure projects with a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background delivering rail projects, particularly civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary rail projects from initiation through to delivery.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and to budget.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee all aspects of project planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and changes effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Produce regular progress reports and attend client and site meetings as required.
  • Support and enforce adherence to Network Rail and client-specific standards and procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within the UK rail industry.
  • Multidisciplinary background with demonstrable experience in OLE and civils.
  • Strong understanding of rail infrastructure and project lifecycle processes.
  • Experience working under Network Rail standards and procedures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage project delivery under pressure.
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification – desirable but not essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.

Additional Information:

  • This role falls inside IR35 and will be engaged via an approved umbrella company.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Travel to site in the Manchester area is required three days per week.
