An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a driven and ambitious construction professional to step into a Project Manager role on one of the largest refurbishment programmes in the North West. This is the perfect next step for an experienced Site Manager seeking progression into project management.
You'll be joining a rapidly growing business that is partnering with a major Tier 1 contractor to deliver the refurbishment of over 550 high-rise apartment blocks across Greater Manchester. This long-term programme includes extensive fire stopping installation, fire door remediation, and general internal refurbishment works, ensuring buildings meet the highest safety and compliance standards.
Reporting directly to the Director and working closely with the main contractor, you'll play a pivotal role in coordinating site operations, managing delivery teams, and driving successful outcomes across multiple live schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of refurbishment works across multiple high-rise residential blocks, ensuring all fire safety and internal works are completed to the highest standard.
Manage day-to-day project operations, including planning, sequencing, and coordination with the Tier 1 contractor.
Oversee fire stopping compliance, fire door replacement/remediation, and associated internal refurbishment tasks.
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and programme targets are met.
Manage subcontractors and internal teams, ensuring efficient resource allocation and performance.
Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and escalate risks or challenges where necessary.
Liaise closely with residents, building management, and key stakeholders to minimise disruption and maintain clear communication.
Ensure full compliance with building regulations, fire safety legislation, and company procedures.
Contribute to project planning, programming, and forecasting for the multi-year delivery schedule.
Support continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across the project.
Skills & Experience
Experience as a Site Manager or Assistant Project Manager within refurbishment, fire safety, or residential construction.
Strong understanding of fire stopping systems, fire door compliance, and internal refurbishment processes.
Confident managing subcontractors, coordinating multiple workstreams, and working within occupied building environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational abilities and the drive to take ownership of large-scale packages of work.
Ability to work collaboratively with Tier 1 contractors and senior leadership.
Relevant construction qualifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid).
