Looking for a role where you can shape culture, influence change, and make a lasting impact?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturer of complex capital equipment with a global customer base. The business is proud of its heritage, on an exciting growth journey, and investing heavily in building a positive, safety-driven culture.

They’re now looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead their HSE strategy and drive continuous improvement across their operations.

The Role

This is a site-based role (with occasional travel to other UK facilities) reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You’ll take full ownership of the HSE function, from developing policies and coaching teams to implementing measurable KPIs and leading incident management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead all HSE activities across manufacturing, office, and field teams
  • Develop, track, and report on HSE KPIs to measure performance and drive improvements
  • Provide hands-on support and coaching to managers and team leaders
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and behavioural safety initiatives
  • Ensure consistent use of PPE and embed safe working practices across all departments
  • Review and update risk assessments, method statements, and COSHH records
  • Manage accident and incident reporting, root cause analysis, and close-out of corrective actions
  • Oversee contractor management: onboarding, permits, site monitoring, and compliance
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for external audits and ISO reviews
  • Liaise with external HSE bodies and maintain clear records and documentation
  • Support environmental initiatives and help reduce the company’s environmental footprint
  • Champion the company’s HSE Traffic Light System, ensuring timely actions and updates

About You

We’re looking for a confident and approachable HSE professional who thrives on the shopfloor as much as in the boardroom.

  • Proven HSE leadership experience in a manufacturing or engineering setting
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) - further HSE qualifications welcome
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO systems, audits, risk management, and KPIs
  • Experience driving a proactive, behaviour-based safety culture
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills
  • Hands-on, pragmatic mindset with passion for continuous improvement

What’s on Offer

  • Base Salary of £55K - £65K (DOE)
  • Bonus Scheme
  • Contributory Pension, Life Assurance, Healthcare
  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
  • A rare opportunity to shape HSE culture and make a tangible difference in a business that values change and continuous improvement.
