Our client is a well-established construction contractor operating across the North West, delivering high-quality residential and commercial developments. With a current turnover of 10 million, the business is currently managing four live low-rise Design & Build (D&B) projects across Manchester, providing an exciting and varied workload. Your new role:
Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team on a number of live low-rise D&B projects in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is looking to further their career in Quantity Surveying, offering exposure to a range of site-based commercial and residential construction projects. Day-release for further studies will be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Senior QS with the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and valuations.

  • Preparing interim valuations, progress reports, and payment applications.

  • Supporting the procurement process including issuing and evaluating tenders/subcontractor quotations.

  • Measuring and quantifying work on site using drawings and specifications.

  • Monitoring project costs, maintaining accurate records, and highlighting potential cost overruns.

  • Supporting contract administration, including raising variation orders and reviewing contractual documentation.

  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and suppliers to support effective project delivery.

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and quality standards.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction, preferably on low-rise residential or commercial projects.

  • Knowledge of cost control, valuations, and construction contract procedures.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., MS Office, CAD, CostX, or similar).

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with site teams, clients, and subcontractors.

  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally; candidates looking for day-release support for studies are encouraged to apply.
