TITLE:
Estimator / Quantity Surveyor - Manchester - 45,000 to 75,000

Your new role:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key role based in Manchester, responsible for managing costs across multiple civil engineering and surfacing projects. You'll play a vital part in maintaining financial control, supporting tenders, and ensuring commercial success from inception through to final account.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing accurate cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for tenders and ongoing works

  • Monitoring project budgets and tracking variations

  • Producing timely cost reports and commercial updates for senior management

  • Assisting in procurement and subcontractor negotiation

  • Liaising with operational teams to ensure best value is achieved

  • Supporting the commercial lead in managing contracts and final accounts

  • Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in compliance with client and industry standards

What you will need to succeed:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within the construction or civil engineering sector

  • Strong understanding of cost control, cost planning, and financial reporting

  • Proficient in preparing and interpreting BOQs

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Effective communicator with the ability to work independently and within a team

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar

  • Experience in surfacing, highways, or civil engineering is desirable but not essential
