Your new role:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key role based in Manchester, responsible for managing costs across multiple civil engineering and surfacing projects. You'll play a vital part in maintaining financial control, supporting tenders, and ensuring commercial success from inception through to final account.
Responsibilities will include:
Preparing accurate cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for tenders and ongoing works
Monitoring project budgets and tracking variations
Producing timely cost reports and commercial updates for senior management
Assisting in procurement and subcontractor negotiation
Liaising with operational teams to ensure best value is achieved
Supporting the commercial lead in managing contracts and final accounts
Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in compliance with client and industry standards
What you will need to succeed:
Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within the construction or civil engineering sector
Strong understanding of cost control, cost planning, and financial reporting
Proficient in preparing and interpreting BOQs
Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
Effective communicator with the ability to work independently and within a team
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
Experience in surfacing, highways, or civil engineering is desirable but not essential
