Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities under the direction of a teacher, or independently where appropriate.

  • Cover classes in the short-term absence of the teacher.

  • Lead small group and 1:1 interventions to raise attainment and support pupil progress.

  • Assess, monitor, and record pupils' achievements to provide feedback to teachers.

  • Support children's social, emotional, and behavioural development.

  • Work in partnership with teachers to contribute to planning and curriculum delivery.

  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.

  • Supervise pupils during non-teaching times (e.g., playtimes, lunchtimes, trips).

  • Uphold safeguarding, equality and behaviour policies consistently.



Person Specification

Essential:

  • HLTA status, Level 6 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent.

  • Experience of working in a primary school setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and strategies to support learning.

  • Ability to lead and deliver learning with confidence.

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Commitment to inclusive practice and raising standards for all pupils.
