We’re looking for empathetic and skilled Communication Support Workers to join our college team in London. This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting students with speech, language, and communication needs, including those who use British Sign Language (BSL), Makaton, or other communication aids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication Facilitation: Support students with speech, language, and communication needs in accessing lessons, social interactions, and college activities.
  • Inclusive Learning: Work alongside lecturers and support staff to adapt materials and ensure students can fully engage with the curriculum.
  • Collaborative Support: Liaise with therapists, SENCOs, and families to implement personalised communication strategies.
  • Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Promote a safe and inclusive environment, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Progress Monitoring: Record and report on student progress, highlighting communication milestones and areas for further support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting students or young adults with communication needs in educational or care settings.
  • Proficiency in BSL, Makaton, or other communication systems (desirable but not essential).
  • A strong understanding and commitment to safeguarding.
  • Minimum of GCSE A–C / Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Patient, adaptable, and student-focused approach.
