Customer Solutions Officer (Housing)

  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time 
  • Location: Albert Square, Manchester, M60 2LA. 
  • Duration: Initial 3 months (likely to extend).
  • Hourly rate: £17.60 per hour PAYE
  • Working Hours: 9am till 5pm, Initial 5 days per week in office during training period. Hybrid working possible after this. 

Join Manchester City Council's Homelessness Service within the Children and Families Directorate as a Housing Solutions Officer. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality support and managing risks for service users, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to engage actively in the community and prevent homelessness. 

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with service users.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and systems for effective data collection and performance management. 
  • Provide support and advice, enabling engagement with local and national services.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review assessments to adjust plans ensuring service users achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Represent the service and the rights of vulnerable residents in Manchester to partner agencies and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong negotiation and conciliation skills.
  • Good investigation skills and confident decision-making abilities.
  • Resilient and empathic approach to handle a challenging work environment.
  • Knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing advice.
  • Proficiency in multiple ICT applications and administrative skills.
  • Must consent to and pass an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
