Richer Sounds are the UKs leading Hi-Fi, Home Cinema and TV specialists, and one of the largest Employee-Owned businesses in the UK. We are looking foran enthusiastic Back end, mid-level, BigCommerce Developer to join our in-house e-commerce team based in Manchester. You will be working alongside our current developers to enhance our BigCommerce site.

Work will include a variety of tasks from ongoing maintenance tasks, bug fixing, making performance improvements, to planning and developing enhancements and new features, QA testing, and documentation, with the ultimate goal of improving our customer experience.

You will also collaborate with and provide technical support to our team of designers to help spec out new, or improved features and designs.The role will require working with BigCommerce and third party APIs, while coordinating with our ERP team and third party suppliers.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop new user-facing features.
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Evaluating requirements, specifications, and code - analysis, problem definition & solution.
  • Development.
  • Code reviewing & initial QA of peers work.

  • Optimise applications for resource consumption (rate limits etc).
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders, technical and non-technical.
  • Evaluating requirements, specifications, and code - analysis, problem definition & solution.

  • Investigation and bug fixing.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with BigCommerce, including API use (REST/GraphQL).
  • General API experience, including authentication mechanisms.
  • Appropriate scripting language experience (e.g. JS, PHP, Python).
  • OOP & functional programming.
  • Version control (Git).
  • Ability to work with legacy outputs (e.g. csv) any apply data munging/transformation.
  • RDBMS experience.
  • Linux CLI.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using Stencil and Handlebars.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Ads/Merchant centre.
  • Experience using GCP / AWS environments.
  • Experience with Klevu.
  • Markup and styling languages, templating systems, Javascript including libraries/frameworks.
  • Experience with Docker.
