Aspire People are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEND school with children who have ASD. This is a challenging yet rewarding role, ideal for candidates who are experienced in working with young people with SEN and have a passion for making a positive impact on SEN children.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant in this role, you will be working with children who have complex autism, this ranges from mild to severe. Some children will also be non-verbal. You will be supporting them throughout their school day, helping them to manage their emotions and behaviour, and encouraging positive engagement in learning.
Your key responsibilities will include:
*Supporting children with ASD, some non-verbal, some with behavioural challenges and emotional struggles
*Working closely with the school's SENCo to discuss challenges, and monitor progress
*Supporting children both academically and socially to help them feel included and engaged with other children
*Building positive, trusting relationships with children to support their personal development and wellbeing
Requirements:
*Previous experience working in a UK school
*Previous experience working in a SEND role or with SEN children
*It would be beneficial if you have worked in a specialist school
*A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to managing challenging behaviour
*Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
*A proactive and resilient attitude towards supporting children with complex needs
