Principal Frontend Engineer

  • £70 - £80k + 10% bonus and benefits.
  • Manchester city centre (2 days in office + flexible working hours)

JOB PURPOSEHaving recently launched a new proprietary back-end enterprise platform, you will play a key role in transforming the front-end elements that serve millions of customers across the UK. This will involve working closely with the Heads of Technology, Software Architects and team leads, so strong stakeholder management ability is crucial. Duties:

  • Designing, developing, and optimising full-stack JavaScript systems and components (React, Node.js, Typescript)
  • Scaling and performance optimisation of web front-end and interaction with API layers
  • Resolve high-level, complex software challenges and optimise system performance
  • Implement software development processes, including Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Contribute to software design, code, and test procedures
  • Participate in the estimation of software development projects
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Mentor Junior Developers and assist with their professional development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Significant commercial experience in the web stack of React, Node.js, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Understanding of low latency, high-scale approaches such as WebSockets
  • Thorough grasp of distributed web caching tools and techniques, e.g. Redis, etc
  • Understanding of fundamental software development best practices, architectures and patterns
  • Awareness of modern deployment methodologies
  • Expertise in performance optimisation of web technologies
  • Willingness to challenge process and existing ways of working or to truly own the domain you're a part of, pushing for innovation through valuable technical or non-technical change
  • Any additional experience including React Native, MongoDB or Hazelcast
