What You’ll Be Doing:

Working in mainstream secondary schools (ages 11–16), you’ll take on varied and rewarding roles such as:

  • Cover Supervisor – leading lessons using pre-set materials and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Teaching Assistant – supporting learning one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Mentor – inspiring and guiding students as they progress.

You’ll gain a well-rounded view of school life while being fully supported by both Cover People and our partner schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a productive learning environment.
  • Assist in delivering engaging, interactive lessons.
  • Support teachers with planning and classroom organisation.
  • Encourage student engagement and motivation.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere.

Who We’re Looking For:

We welcome enthusiastic individuals who are:

  • Recent graduates (BSc, MSc, PhD, or equivalent)
  • Passionate about education and working with young people
  • Confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable managing classroom behaviour
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn

Previous school experience isn’t essential, but any experience working with children or young people is highly beneficial.

Requirements:

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply via Cover People)
  • Availability for full (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm – flexible)
