Second Line Engineer - Networking & Systems Upgrade Focus

£30,000 - £35,000 DOE

This internal IT support role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with the freedom to manage projects end-to-end. Working directly with a tight-knit team, you'll be the driving force behind keeping infrastructure secure, scalable, and future-ready. This role offers exposure to a wide array of technology allowing you to build the skills to progress in your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide second-line support for hardware, software, and bespoke systems (inc. specialist process control tools).
  • Lead network configuration, firewall management, and router/switch diagnostics.
  • Implement software and security upgrades across all user devices and site infrastructure.
  • Take ownership of projects such as:
    • Deployable and solar-powered CCTV systems
    • New VoIP phone systems
    • Firewall hardening and network segmentation
    • Off-site disaster recovery solutions
  • Work autonomously and flexibly with on-site support and after-hours response as required.

Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years' experience in an IT support role, ideally second-line or generalist.
  • Solid foundation in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs) and Windows OS.
  • Comfortable supporting and upgrading a wide range of internal systems (CCTV, access control, specialist industrial software).
  • Strong initiative and able to manage your own workload without micromanagement.
  • Projects or field work in infrastructure, security systems or SME environments is a plus.
