Estimator – Commercial Fit-Out & Refurbishment – £50,000–£60,000 DOE + up to 25% annual bonus – Market Harborough HQ (LE16 7PS) Occasional Travel

The Role

Do you enjoy turning drawings and specs into clear, competitive tenders? Have you built your estimating career in commercial fit-out and refurbishment?

We’re looking for an Estimator to join our growing team and take the lead on tendering and cost planning for projects across the UK. You'll work closely with the Commercial Director and guide a Junior Estimator, delivering accurate estimates and helping shape winning bids.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Cost Planning

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates from drawings, specs, and site visits
  • Build tenders covering multiple trades: drywall, ceilings, flooring, M&E, HVAC
  • Manage pricing across several live tenders, ensuring quality and profitability

Collaboration

  • Work with project managers, sales and design teams to understand project scope
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
  • Help refine scope and programme using site and commercial input

Tenders & Bid Strategy

  • Lead bid submissions and ensure they are clear, competitive, and commercially sound
  • Experience with public sector tenders (schools, hospitals) is a strong advantage
  • Support pre-construction planning and value engineering

Commercial Oversight

  • Work with the Commercial Director to monitor pricing trends and cost forecasts
  • Maintain estimating tools and cost libraries (experience with Onscreen Takeoff is a bonus)
  • Provide clear handovers to the delivery team

Team Leadership

  • Support and mentor the Junior Estimator
  • Help improve internal systems and ways of working

The Person

  • At least 5 years’ experience in estimating commercial fit-outs or refurbishments
  • Strong knowledge across multiple trades and project types
  • Confident working on public sector tenders is desirable
  • Accurate, commercially aware, and good with numbers
  • Comfortable using estimating software and digital tools
  • A team player with excellent communication skills
