Copello have partnered with a leading Defence organisation in their search for an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead the establishment of a new high volume electronics production line. This is an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and scale an operations function that will deliver excellence in manufacturing performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll be responsible for building a new operations team to support the development, launch, and ramp-up of cutting-edge electronic products. You’ll define and execute the operations strategy, ensuring that all key performance indicators (including On-Time Delivery, Quality, and Productivity) are consistently met or exceeded.
You’ll work cross-functionally with Programme, Engineering, Quality, and Procurement teams to deliver on customer commitments, drive efficiency, and embed standard operating frameworks that ensure compliance and sustainable performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the establishment of a new operations team to support a high-volume electronics production line
- Develop and execute an operations strategy aligned with customer expectations and delivery schedules
- Drive day-to-day operational performance to meet revenue, quality, and delivery objectives
- Apply the company’s Standard Operating Framework to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Lead productivity and waste reduction initiatives across the programme
- Deploy standard work procedures, monitor compliance, and take corrective action where needed
- Ensure resource capacity and capability are continually planned to satisfy customer demand
- Use visual management tools to communicate daily performance, track KPIs, and drive accountability
- Identify and implement cross-training opportunities to enhance flexibility and responsiveness
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems in line with industry standards (BSI/CAA/AS9100)
- Champion Health, Safety, and Environmental policies to support a zero-harm culture
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience designing and establishing operations from the ground up (including plant setup, equipment installation, and team recruitment)
- Background in high-volume electronics production environments
- Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive operational excellence
- Exceptional organisational and leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality standards
- Aerospace or defence industry experience preferred
