Matfield (near Tonbridge Wells) – £30,000 – £40,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We are working with a long-established electronics design and assembly business with over 30 years of success and a growing international client base, seeking a Quality Engineer to join their expanding team in Matfield, Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in electronics assembly and a passion for quality improvement to help shape the continued success of a business that values innovation, precision, and people.

The role works closely with Production and Quality teams to ensure that products consistently meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing process.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Production Manager to establish and maintain benchmarks for product quality
  • Monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes, identify defects, and implement corrective actions
  • Perform Goods Inwards and Outwards inspections to verify component and product conformity
  • Lead or support root cause analysis activities using tools such as 8D and PFMEA
  • Identify and mitigate quality risks across the product lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, and Management teams to enhance systems and processes
  • Maintain calibration registers and ensure equipment calibration schedules are met
  • Collect and analyse quality data (NCRs and customer returns) to identify trends and drive improvement
  • Support internal and external audits and compliance activities in line with ISO9001 standards
  • Apply engineering and manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and product reliability

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a Quality or Engineering role within an electronics assembly environment
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001 and related manufacturing standards
  • Experience supporting or leading internal and external audits
  • Confident problem solver with experience using 8D, PFMEA, or similar tools
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across departments and with suppliers
  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Quality Assurance (or relevant experience)
  • Experience with IPC standards (e.g. IPC-A-610) advantageous
  • Strong organisation and data analysis skills, with good attention to detail
