As the Head of Engineering, you will be instrumental in leading the transformation of the engineering function. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing a cohesive engineering strategy that enhances technical capabilities and optimises asset/vendor management. You will play a key part in driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, all while maintaining a relentless focus on customer satisfaction. Your leadership will be vital in navigating the significant changes occurring within the organisation, ensuring that the engineering function aligns seamlessly with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical and asset performanece across the UK network, to include; ensuring effective delivery of equipment performance in major infrastructure projects and empowerment of the engineering teams.
  • Build and sustain key internal relationships to drive effectiveness, productivity, and automation performance. Collaborate with procurement to manage vendor relationships.
  • Develop and deliver the engineering/technical masterplan for UK operations, focusing on automation, equipment standards, and the capability to fulfil significant CAPEX projects on time and within budget.
  • Take responsibility for automation engineering KPIs to ensure alignment with organisational goals.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Strong technical operations leadership with experience in managing assets and teams across diverse locations.
  • Proven ability in vendor management and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to navigate rapid sector changes.
  • Influential and effective operation in a matrix organisation.
  • Experience with automated warehouses or manufacturing environments.
  • Change management and resilience skills are essential
  • Significant experience in multi-site and multi-national manufacturing supply chains or advanced 3PL operations.
  • Proven track record in managing engineering teams with exemplary people and change management skills.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical or Electrical) is preferred.
  • Ability to perform under pressure with a commercially savvy approach to sourcing and negotiations.
