About The Company
Our client is a leading British designer, manufacturer, and supplier of waste compaction, baling and crushing equipment. They deliver bespoke machines, maintenance, servicing and 24-hour breakdown support across the UK and internationally.
Role Overview
Acting as Technical Manager this is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for overseeing in-house machinery repairs, software programming and ensuring products are satisfactory to meet customer demand.
When required you will assist customers onsite and in-house with technical queries.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee product development and repairs to meet customer needs and expectations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g. CE, machinery safety directives, electrical standards) and internal quality standards.
- Coordinate technical support and fault diagnosis operations-ensuring fast and effective response to breakdowns, working with the 24-hour response teams.
- Manage technical budgets, capital investment for tooling/test equipment, and supplier relationships.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to assess feasibility of customer-specific requests, providing technical input for proposals, quotations, and custom solutions.
- Represent the company in technical discussions with clients, partners, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or relevant Engineering discipline.
- Strong hands-on background in mechanical and electrical systems, controls, hydraulics ideally from the waste machinery industry.
- Experience in field service, aftersales support, fault diagnosis, and maintenance engineering.
- Problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and make technical decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in engineering tools (CAD, FEA, PLC software, control systems, documentation tools).
- Ability to travel to customer sites, workshops, and potentially overseas (if required).
