Job Purpose

As a member of the Technical NPD team, this role is responsible for managing the product formulation & product performance from conception through to product launch in the market.The role demands proven technical expertise in Aerosol products plus hands-on experience of developing and delivering products to meet NPD time lines in an FMCG environment. The role is also responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the process - from the initial lab work, through the claims support, key sign-off stages and manufacturing scale-up - are delivered on time and on cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the existing portfolio of products and develop a portfolio of new formulations that are cost-effective, delivered on time, and compliant with relevant legislation.

  • Manage the development process from lab through to plant scale-up - working with Lab, Process, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, QA, and SHE teams.

  • Co-ordinate project feasibility assessments and support Product Managers with timely technical input for tenders and quotes.

  • Oversee key sign-off stages for artwork, specifications, and stability, ensuring timely and accurate project completion.

  • Stay up to date with technological advances in raw materials, lab equipment, and testing methods to maintain a competitive edge.

  • Prepare product samples using lab and pilot scale equipment.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including rationalisation of raw materials and packaging.

  • Support technical team development to meet evolving business needs.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemistry

  • 3+ years of formulation development experience in aerosols, cosmetics, or personal care products (essential); experience in household products (essential)

  • Strong project management and commercial acumen

  • Broad formulator experience and regulatory knowledge (desirable)

  • Experience working to GMP standards
