About the Client
ATA Recruitment is working with a leading manufacturer within the building materials sector. With multiple sites across the UK, the client operates some of the most advanced and high-capacity production facilities in the industry. Their flagship site in Measham is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team and strengthen their electrical maintenance capability.
This site is highly automated and requires engineers with strong technical ability, particularly with electrical fault-finding and systems maintenance.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Maintenance Engineer, your primary focus will be on electrical maintenance, supported by a capable mechanical team. Key responsibilities include:
- Electrical Fault Finding: Working up to 415v on complex three-phase equipment using meters, PLC interfaces (Siemens / TIA Portal), and electrical schematics.
- Preventative Maintenance: Completing PPMs on control panels, motors, inverters, sensors, and drive systems.
- Reactive Repairs: Rapidly responding to breakdowns, swapping like-for-like electrical and mechanical components.
- Project Support: Assisting with CI initiatives and machinery upgrades.
- Working Independently: At times, you will be the sole electrical Maintenance Engineer on shift, requiring confidence and calm decision-making under pressure.
You will also engage in fault-finding through both PLCs and traditional diagnostic methods, ensuring machinery downtime is minimized.
Additionally, the role includes a banked hours system: you will be paid upfront for 280 hours of overtime annually. These hours are then made up by working additional shifts throughout the year. With regular shift handovers included, the actual requirement to cover extra shifts equates to approximately 206 hours.
What the Client is Looking For
The successful Maintenance Engineer will have:
- A Level 3 qualification in Engineering (City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Extensive experience working with three-phase systems, control panels, sensors, and motors.
- Excellent electrical fault-finding ability, with skills in using multimeters, electrical drawings, and basic PLC interfaces.
- Confidence working solo on a busy manufacturing site.
- A calm, level-headed approach, with strong communication skills.
Candidates from manufacturing, automation, heavy industry, or ex-forces (with strong electrical skills) backgrounds will be considered.
Benefits on Offer
- Highly competitive salary with bonus potential.
- Banked hours system providing financial stability.
- Double-matched pension contributions (up to 15% total).
- 28 days holiday.
- Life assurance.
- Overtime availability.
- Excellent training prospects, including PLC development courses for committed engineers.
