Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working on a retained basis for Horbury Group, based in Rotherham (S60) as they look to recruit a highly skilled and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. Horbury Group are an established Group of integrated construction-based companies operating across the UK, providing construction solutions to developers, building owners and main contractors. They were originally formed in 1992 and through acquisition and organic growth, they have expanded into a group of specialist contracting business offering the full compendium of internal fit out trades. They have an annual turnover of approximately £80 Million and employ over 800 people, ensuring they have unrivalled resource levels and delivery capability within every one of their specialist sectors.

The Management Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and implementing effective financial control measures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. It will be a varied role with duties to include: -

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
    • Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for variances from budget and forecasts
    • Maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning and suggest improvements
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Support the annual budgeting process
    • Monitor budget performance and update forecasts based on actual performance and changing business conditions
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
    • Monitor internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data and suggests improvements
  • Performance Measurement:
    • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track business performance.
    • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as required by management
  • Systems and Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and processes for improved efficiency and accuracy
    • Lead or participate in finance-related projects to support business objectives

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences: -

  • ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA Qualified
  • 3-5 years+ experience in Management Accounts
  • Good commercial acumen
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel  (Experience of Coins system would be advantageous)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Being able to work to deadlines on a regular basis
  • Previously assisted with annual audits
  • A good understanding of Construction VAT
  • Good attention to detail
  • Professional and motivated approach
  • Hard working and dedicated
