Applications Design EngineerRole Overview

The Applications Engineer plays a pivotal role in delivering tailored technical and commercial solutions to customers around the world. This role supports projects from initial enquiry through to delivery, collaborating closely with internal teams across Sales, Design, and Manufacturing. It requires a mix of technical knowledge, project management skills, and strong communication to ensure seamless execution of complex engineered solutions.

Applications Design Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer requirements and specifications to deliver compliant, cost-effective engineered solutions.
  • Prepare detailed technical proposals, quotations, and cost models aligned with international engineering and safety standards.
  • Support cross-functional teams to manage orders from concept to commissioning, including coordination with design, procurement, and production.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with OEM customers to deliver tailored mechanical component or system solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues, support root cause analysis, and propose corrective actions for in-field challenges.
  • Assist with pricing strategies and support commercial bids to secure new business.
  • Attend project-related meetings and manage documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Applications Design EngineerSkills & Knowledge

  • Ideally HNC/HND in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (Degree desirable)
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, components, or process equipment
  • Understanding of engineering terminology and drawings
  • 5-10+ years in a machining, rotating equipment or process engineering environment would be beneficial but we are open to a range of manufacturing environments
