Job Title: Underwriter and Packager

Location: Rotherham, in office Mon-Fri

Salary: £27,500-£29,000 depending on experience, rising to £29,500 after 6-month probation

Our client is a long-established and respected financial services provider, specialising in secured loans, mortgages, and debt consolidation products. They offer both 1st and 2nd charge lending products and are known for taking a manual, customer-centric approach to lending decisions. They offer bespoke lending solutions supported by in-house underwriting and servicing teams.

Job Purpose:

To process and assess 1st and 2nd charge mortgage applications and Decisions in Principle (DIPs) from brokers. The role includes both underwriting and packaging responsibilities, balancing manual review and automated systems, and contributing to strong broker relationships and effective lending decisions.

Skills/qualities:

  • Strong experience in administrative, legal, financial services, or insurance sectors
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise independently
  • Confident with IT systems, data entry, and Excel
  • Strong admin and documentation handling
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, structured but flexible team environment
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and proactive
