Steel River Power operates the high voltage electrical distribution on the Teesworks site in the UK, one of the largest private networks in the UK. Managing a large distribution network, our mission is to ensure uninterrupted and efficient energy delivery to customers.
This is a pivotal role responsible for the real-time monitoring and management of our network, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safety.
As a Conrtol Room Operator you will be working an established shift pattern on a rota basis.
Your duties will include:
- Monitor and control the private wire network via SCADA and other real-time systems.
- Respond promptly to alarms, faults, and system anomalies to minimise downtime and ensure safety.
- Record operational data to identify deviations from standard operation.
- Coordinate with field teams as required to execute maintenance and repairs.
- Escalate major incidents as per established protocols and participate in incident investigations.
- Collaborate with engineers to identify and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
- Prepare shift reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and customer support teams to ensure continued delivery of service.
- Participate in regular training and drills to stay updated on industry standards and technologies.
- Act as emergency point of contact for operations, working with both the engineering and site management teams.
- Other control room tasks, such as accounting for personnel across the system
- Communicate with outside agencies and bodies as required.
- Communicate with all third party companies on site.
Essential:
- Experience in control room operations, energy distribution, or a related field.
- Proficiency in the operation and monitoring of systems via SCADA
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work in a rotational shift pattern, including nights and weekends.
- Engineering or technical qualification.
- Understanding of private wire networks.
- Familiarity with power distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
