GSL Education are inviting applications for the position of General Cover Teacher to support secondary schools in Middlesbrough. This full-time role is ideal for adaptable teachers who can manage different subjects and year groups, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of regular class teachers.
As a General Cover Teacher, you will supervise a variety of lessons across different departments. Your primary role will be to maintain classroom order, support pupil engagement, and ensure set work is delivered effectively. While subject expertise is not required, strong classroom management and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-prepared lessons across multiple subjects.
- Maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
- Adapt quickly to different subjects, year groups, and schools.
- Support students' learning and keep them engaged.
- Communicate effectively with school staff to ensure consistency.
- Provide feedback on student progress where necessary.
- Follow safeguarding and school behaviour policies at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience teaching in UK secondary schools.
- Confident in teaching a variety of subjects.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to engage students effectively.
- An up-to-date CV (covering the last 10 years with no unexplained gaps).
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
