Summary

CCS | Compass Corporate Services have partnered exclusively with a leading, award-winning psychological healthcare provider in the UK to source an experienced Information Request Officer. This is a brand-new role created due to significant growth in information access demands — a pivotal opportunity to bring expertise and structure to an area critical to governance and patient trust.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced data protection and information governance professional to lead on subject access requests (SARs) and broader information disclosure processes, ensuring legal compliance, confidentiality, and quality assurance across a highly specialist healthcare setting.The organisation is nationally recognised for its pioneering work in mental health and psychological services, with a reputation for excellence in patient care, safeguarding, and innovation. This role supports that mission by ensuring that every request for information is handled with professionalism, empathy, and meticulous attention to legal frameworks.Working closely with the Quality and Governance Manager, you will coordinate the receipt, tracking, redaction, and release of sensitive information, often from complex clinical case notes. You’ll play a vital role in protecting patient data while enabling transparency and access — a balance that requires deep knowledge of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and healthcare best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to Subject Access Requests and other data disclosure requests in line with legal and regulatory timelines
  • Redact sensitive patient data appropriately, using relevant tools and judgement
  • Maintain an accurate log of information requests and audit trails
  • Liaise with internal teams, patients, and external stakeholders professionally
  • Provide advice on information rights, sharing protocols, and internal compliance
  • Support wider governance and IG functions, including document management and compliance audits

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in a similar SAR or data protection-focused role
  • Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and exemptions
  • Background in healthcare, mental health, or psychological services - understanding of clinical language is essential
  • Excellent written communication and document presentation skills
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to handle distressing or sensitive information professionally
  • Ability to commute to Teesside HQ as required, especially during induction period
  • Comfortable working independently and flexibly - this role is hybrid with options to suit school hours or other commitments

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience working in NHS or social care settings
  • Familiarity with patient management systems
  • Relevant IG/Data Protection qualifications
  • Audit or compliance monitoring experience
