A leading engineering business is seeking a talented and driven Design Engineer to join its expanding technical team. Focused on the design and development of innovative electro/mechanical products, this role offers the opportunity to be involved in projects from concept through to deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation and management of parts and Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Redesign of existing products for performance and manufacturability
- Development of Installation & Maintenance (I&M) documentation
- Conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Participation in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
- 3D CAD modelling and creation of electrical schematics/drawings (SolidWorks)
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and operations
- Ensuring compliance with relevant UK regulations and standards
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Essential:
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Previous experience in a product development role
Desirable:
- Degree in Control and Systems Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with PLCs, Python or C# coding
- Knowledge of wireless technologies (radio, Bluetooth), battery-powered systems
- Familiarity with UK compliance standards (e.g., CE/UKCA, EMC, IP ratings)
- Experience in prototype development and electromechanical systems
Qualifications:
- HND / Degree in a relevant engineering field
