A leading engineering business is seeking a talented and driven Design Engineer to join its expanding technical team. Focused on the design and development of innovative electro/mechanical products, this role offers the opportunity to be involved in projects from concept through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation and management of parts and Bills of Materials (BOM)
  • Redesign of existing products for performance and manufacturability
  • Development of Installation & Maintenance (I&M) documentation
  • Conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Participation in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • 3D CAD modelling and creation of electrical schematics/drawings (SolidWorks)
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and operations
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant UK regulations and standards

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Previous experience in a product development role

Desirable:

  • Degree in Control and Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with PLCs, Python or C# coding
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (radio, Bluetooth), battery-powered systems
  • Familiarity with UK compliance standards (e.g., CE/UKCA, EMC, IP ratings)
  • Experience in prototype development and electromechanical systems

Qualifications:

  • HND / Degree in a relevant engineering field
