Maintenance Engineer - 35,000 to 40,000 - Mildenhall, Suffolk

An established tube and sheet metal manufacturer based in Mildenhall, Suffolk, is currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer to support the performance and reliability of its production machinery. This practical, hands-on position involves carrying out repairs, resolving mechanical and electrical faults, and driving improvements to reduce downtime. The ideal applicant will bring a strong engineering skill set and a forward-thinking attitude to help maintain a well-functioning and efficient manufacturing operation.

What's the pay & hours?

  • 35,000 - 40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

What will you be doing?

  • Identifying inefficiencies and implementing continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity and reduce costs
  • Performing preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure equipment reliability
  • Supporting the business in its transition to robotic automation
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues to implement effective solutions
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, upgrades, and process improvements
  • Collaborating with production, NPI, and engineering teams to drive operational efficiency
  • Training team members on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or operations
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
