Role Overview:

As Head of Finance, you'll lead our finance function with full responsibility for strategic financial planning, reporting, controls, and compliance. You will work closely with the Managing Director and wider senior leadership team to ensure the business remains financially strong, agile, and aligned with our growth ambitions.

Your construction finance expertise will be crucial in driving performance across project costing, cash flow forecasting, commercial strategy, and risk management.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a positive, supportive, and high-performance culture.

  • Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, payroll, and compliance.

  • Provide accurate and timely financial analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making.

  • Ensure robust project costing, margin analysis, and cash flow forecasting processes are in place.

  • Collaborate closely with project teams to drive financial performance at both site and company level.

  • Own the production of monthly management accounts and statutory reporting.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and insurers.

  • Monitor and manage financial risk, ensuring all processes comply with construction-specific financial regulations and standards.

  • Champion financial systems improvements and digital transformation initiatives.



Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within the construction industry is essential.

  • Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP reporting, subcontractor payments, and CIS.

  • Commercially astute with the ability to influence decision-making at a strategic level.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.

  • Tech-savvy with experience implementing or improving finance systems.

  • Strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
