You will work as part of a growing R&D development team within the Centre of Excellence for Datacentre Cooling. The role focuses on expanding the cooling product portfolio with innovative solutions to address challenges in the rapidly evolving data centre industry.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development of innovative, technology-focused cooling product designs.

  • Managing the design, testing, and conformity processes to ensure products can be accurately manufactured or sourced internally or through subcontractors.

  • Providing expert cooling engineering and testing input while promoting professionalism and strong ethical standards.

  • Identifying and developing new cooling methods to enhance the product portfolio.

  • Implementing and managing a 1D modelling system within the R&D department.

  • Introducing and managing CFD processes to inform and guide new product development.

Key Duties:

  • Research, design, develop, and validate new cooling products.

  • Specify and develop next-generation cooling solutions that meet market needs and comply with the latest national and international standards.

  • Produce and maintain technical files to meet UK regulations and EU directives.

  • Follow design and development procedures in line with ISO9001 and internal eco-design policies.

  • Provide technical details and support to the Purchasing Department for component sourcing.

  • Report on progress of products through the new product development lifecycle.

  • Support technical teams on cooling and mechanical issues related to company products.

  • Collaborate and share expertise with the wider R&D team.

  • Mentor and support junior team members where needed.

  • Deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.

  • Uphold and promote company values and the organisational code of ethics.

Key Skills Required:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer.

  • Strong understanding of thermal management, heat transfer, and cooling systems.

  • MSc, BEng, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Desirable Experience:

  • Product design and development experience within cooling, HVAC, or data centre industries.

  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics and product life cycle analysis.

  • Experience with CFD modelling (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is highly valuable.
