Finance Manager

Location: Milton Keynes

Are you an experienced finance professional ready to lead a team and drive excellence in financial control and reporting? My client is seeking a proactive and detail-focused individual to manage a finance accounting unit, ensuring high-quality delivery of financial operations and control activities.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Leadership: Own and oversee monthly financial accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate close. Lead a team of Financial Specialists to deliver core activities including:

    • Accounts payable and receivable

    • Intercompany transactions

    • Expense and grant payments

    • Payroll and voluntary income uploads

    • Reconciliations and system uploads to Business Central

  • Process Improvement & Control:

    • Design, review, and implement control activities that enhance the financial control environment, balancing rigour with efficiency.

    • Originate or review journals and balance sheet reconciliations.

    • Lead or participate in regular reconciliation review meetings.

  • Team Management & Development:

    • Line manage and support a team of three Financial Specialists.

    • Provide coaching, professional development, performance management, and support their wellbeing.

    • Take an active role in the finance leadership team to promote collaboration and effectiveness.



About You:

  • Essential:

    • Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - this is critical to the role.

    • Strong understanding of financial control environments and month-end processes.

    • Demonstrated leadership and coaching experience within a finance function.
