Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives? We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive and dynamic team working with students who have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and additional behavioural challenges.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who thrives in specialist settings and wants to make a genuine difference by helping students build confidence, manage their emotions, and succeed in education.

 

What to Expect in the Role:

You will work one-to-one and in small groups to support students with complex behavioural profiles linked to SEMH and SEN. Your focus will be on building positive relationships, delivering targeted mentoring, and promoting emotional regulation and resilience.

You will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to implement personalised support strategies that enable students to overcome barriers to learning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in managing behaviour, emotions, and social interactions
  • Implement and review tailored behaviour support plans
  • Build strong, consistent, and trusting relationships with students
  • Mentor students through challenges and encourage positive self-image
  • Promote engagement and participation within the classroom setting
  • Monitor and report progress, contributing to review meetings and plans
  • Support a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all learners

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and behavioural difficulties
  • Skilled in de-escalation and relationship-based approaches
  • Calm, patient, and resilient, with a proactive and empathetic mindset
  • Understanding of behaviour regulation and trauma-informed practice
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, youth work, or related areas are desirable
