Synergy Plus Recruitment is helping a well-established company in the production sector find a Production Operative to join their team.

Role Overview:

As a Production Operative, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of production lines and equipment. This includes operating machinery, fault finding, handling changeovers, basic maintenance, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Hours and Pay Rates:
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days, 2 nights)

  • Shift Times: 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am (12-hour shifts)

  • Breaks: 2 x 30-minute paid breaks per shift

  • Days Only Rate: £15.34 per hour up to 48 hours; £23.01 per hour for overtime

  • Days + Nights Rate: £16.87 per hour up to 48 hours; £25.31 per hour for overtime

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate production lines and equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained.

  • Perform fault finding and basic maintenance to minimize downtime, supporting the Production Team Operative function.

  • Manage raw materials and follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.

  • Help meet team targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and root cause analysis.

  • Support audits, product trials, and site visits.

  • Train and mentor other team members to improve performance and follow best practices.

Essential Requirements:
  • Knowledge of safety and quality standards in a production environment.

  • Ability to perform fault finding and basic machine maintenance.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • IT literate and able to work with quality management systems.

  • Experience in Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing.

  • Previous production experience is essential. Applications without relevant experience will not be considered.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Food Safety Level 2 and HACCP Level 2 (Level 3 is a plus).

  • Forklift Truck Licence (Counter-Balance and/or Reach Truck) and Powered Pallet Truck Licence.

  • GCSE Grade D/3 in English and Maths.
