Health & Safety Officer Location: Milton Keynes Reporting to: Managing Director

Role Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Officer to oversee and enhance our site's health and safety protocols. This role requires a strong understanding of compliance standards, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety.?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise employees on minimizing risks and hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH and infection control.
  • Perform first aid duties as required.
  • Train employees on health and safety standards and best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and monitor workplace conditions.
  • Develop and manage health and safety policies and monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures and organize emergency response teams.
  • Provide general health and safety advice to all staff members.
  • Facilitate statutory inspections for equipment and systems.
  • Record and report on health and safety tours, accidents, and incidents.
  • Act as the primary contact for maintenance requests and facility defects.
  • Arrange and oversee maintenance work, liaising with contractors and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Officer on quotations and facility projects.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within food, FMCG, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with safety management systems.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.?

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a health and safety role.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • IOSH membership or equivalent professional affiliation.?
