Software Migration Lead / Technical Project Manager
Salary: £50k - £65k pro rata
Contract: 6-month Fixed-Term Contract (initial)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days/week in Milton Keynes (Mon & Tues), 3 days from home
About This Role
Our client is a gym group, and is undertaking a critical migration project - moving their existing Gym Management Software. This move will support our client’s growth and operational goals, and we’re looking for the right person to help them lead this migration.
We are hiring a Migration Lead to manage the end-to-end transition. You’ll work closely with the internal team supported by the current helpdesk analyst who is the tech champion of the outgoing software. You will act as the central point of coordination across technical and business teams both internally and externally.
This is a hands-on role that blends project management, systems analysis, and technical coordination - particularly around APIs and data migration. You will drive the end-to-end delivery of the migration—coordinating internal teams, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders—while ensuring minimal disruption to day-to-day operations. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, technically minded leader to shape the future of our digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management & Leadership
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive migration plan, including key milestones, timelines, risk assessments, testing protocols, and contingency plans.
- Lead project planning, coordination, and delivery across multiple stakeholders.
- Collaborate with our internal SME, the new platform technical support, and our internal leadership team.
- Act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clear communication and aligned priorities.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on progress, issues, and key decisions.
System & Data Migration
- Oversee data extraction, mapping, cleansing, and import into the new platform.
- Ensure the new platform is correctly configured to receive, process, and operate on legacy data.
- Validate data integrity post-migration and coordinate QA/testing phases.
- Ensure full compliance with GDPR and internal data protection policies
Integration & Technical Oversight
- Understand and work with API integrations, ensuring key workflows are rebuilt or replaced.
- Work with REST APIs, webhooks, and custom connectors to ensure all workflows are replicated or improved in the new ecosystem.
- Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing), system stress testing, and go-live support.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure full stakeholder sign-off before go-live.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Create and maintain documentation for all steps of the process.
- Train and support internal teams through the transition.
- Lead internal training sessions and create guides to support adoption and continuity.
- Set up processes for ongoing support, maintenance, and vendor escalation post-migration.
About You
You’re a strong communicator, systems thinker, and technically minded project lead who can confidently manage software migrations and speak both "tech" and "ops." You’re confident running with ambiguity, solving integration puzzles, and pushing projects forward with momentum.

- Knowledge of SQL or data analysis tools
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technical teams
- Ability to produce clear documentation and training materials for non-technical users
