We are seeking a skilledTesterto join aleading rolling stock company based in Milton Keynes. This position requires a highly competent individual with an apprenticeship or recognised training programme in mechanical/electrical engineering, capable of producing high-quality work in accordance with UK rail safety regulations.
As a Tester, you will perform functional testing and commissioning of EMU/DMU and other rolling stock post-works. You will also assist in fault identification and rectification, working independently and to written instructions to help ensure the Depot provides top-level service.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks as directed by your line manager.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings.
  • Investigate and resolve rolling stock faults with minimal supervision.
  • Work in high-voltage environments.
  • Download and process train diagnostic data.
  • Conduct basic fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Test various on-train systems and produce complex, analytical technical reports.
  • Deputise for the test team leader when required.
  • Maintain test paperwork, including test sheets and fault logs.
  • Liaise with production departments as needed.
  • Attend off-site railway depots to support customer requirements.
  • Complete additional reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager.


Person Specification
  • Qualifications:
    • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in a relevant field.
    • Competent in electric/mechanical fault-finding techniques.

      Skills
    • Ability to fault-find complex circuits and systems to a basic level.
    • Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Strong understanding of 5S principles.
    • Awareness of safety and quality standards.
