Production Engineering Manager | Milton Keynes | up to £75,000 | Permanent

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an adaptable and innovative Production Engineering Manager to coordinate complex, fast-moving projects and drive momentum within a dynamic, high-demand environment. With a full order book for the next few years and approximately 80 rolling stock vehicles on-site at a time, you’ll support and oversee projects through their entire lifecycle, ensuring exceptional delivery standards under ever-changing scenarios.

This is an exciting role for someone who thrives in uncertainty, can manage demanding clients, and relishes the opportunity to influence outcomes. You’ll bring fresh ideas to a traditional industry, foster strong relationships with your team, and make a visible impact on nationally significant rail projects. The role offers variety, challenge, and the satisfaction of shaping processes, driving efficiency, and delivering results in a booming sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Production Engineering team in developing and implementing work instructions and processes in support of operations.
  • Support the Production Team Leaders in the resolution of technical issues and the processing and approval of additional work, including the identification of parts.
  • Provide a leading role in the mobilisation of new projects from handover from commercial.
  • Lead the reduction of quality defects and manage reporting and continuous improvement.

The Candidate:

This role would be ideal for someone with a strong technical background who can drive continuous improvement, ensure projects are completed on time and on budget and be an inspirational leader within the business. The following are essential criteria to be considered for this position:

  • Strong technical engineer with a mechanical bias
  • Experience with production engineering in a heavy manufacturing industry
  • Competent leader with the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Proven track record in seeking continual improvements, process efficiencies and an ability to interrogate and drive business performance
