Interaction Education are delighted to be working closely with a fantastic secondary school in the Milton Keynes area in their search for a Welfare Officer.

This role would suit someone with previous experience working in this role, or within a schools pastoral support setting/alternate provision.

Job Purpose:

To support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of students by working with pupils, families, and staff to ensure every child is safe, supported, and able to access learning effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to pupils experiencing social, emotional, or welfare issues.

  • Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding and child protection concerns.

  • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to implement support strategies.

  • Liaise with families and external agencies to coordinate early help or specialist interventions.

  • Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding protocols and GDPR.

  • Promote positive attendance, behaviour, and student well-being across the school.

Person Specification:
  • Experience in a pastoral, welfare, or safeguarding role within education or children’s services.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and related legislation.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Knowledge of local support services and referral pathways in Milton Keynes is desirable.
