HEAD CHEF Vacancy at 26 Bedroom Country Inn on Exmoor
Due to illness and retirement of 2 members of our long standing teamwe are seeking an experienced, inspirational and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary expertise and possess the ability to create exceptional dishes while managing kitchen operations efficiently with excellent leadership and teamwork skills. As Head Chef at The Exmoor White Horse Inn, you will be responsible for overseeing food creation, ensuring high standards of food safety, and fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and creativity alongside our existing team
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring effective team collaboration and communication.
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation and cooking, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Develop and implement menus that reflect current culinary trends while meeting customer preferences.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety practices, and customer service excellence.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and manage food costs effectively.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods.
- Handle any customer complaints or feedback regarding food quality or service promptly and professionally.
Skills
- Proven supervising experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong background in food production with a focus on quality and consistency.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Proficient in food preparation techniques and cooking methods across various cuisines.
- Extensive kitchen experience with a solid understanding of culinary principles.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to guide a diverse team effectively.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, particularly in a leadership role within the hospitality sector.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
Permanent Position - we operate 12 months of the year.
