An Academic Mentor is needed in a Mixed Secondary School & Sixth Form in South West London.

This will be a full time long term Academic Mentor position, with scope to go permanent.

Working hours for this Academic Mentor post will be 8am to 4pm.

Responsibilities for this Academic Mentor role will include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting SEN and LAP students in group or whole class intervention sessions
  • Working with the teachers to ensure each student's learning needs are identified
  • Attending to students' social, emotional and personal needs when required
  • Supporting behaviour management and using appropriate strategies in line with academy policy
  • Undertaking learning activities/teaching programmes when needed

The rates of pay for this Academic Mentor position will be between 82.14 to 100 a day, depending on the qualifications and experiences of each applicant.

The School

An 'Outstanding' Secondary School & Sixth Form in the London Borough of Merton.

It is a mixed, 11 - 18, non-selective school with a wide demographic of pupils and staff.

90% of students stay in education or employment after Key Stage 4.

The site has its own dedicated SEN Support Centre and a variety of sports facilities.

Ofsted have noted there is positive culture of learning and a strong sense of community.

Requirements

Applications are welcome if you're a Graduate or experienced Academic Mentor.

You're also welcome to apply if you're a British trained Academic Mentor or overseas trained Academic Mentor.

All applicants must have the following in order to be considered for this position as an Academic Mentor:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Clear and up to date Enhanced DBS
  • UK Bachelor's Degree or overseas equivalent
  • Experience of working with children/young people from the ages of 11 to 18 or as an Academic Mentor in UK schools
