SEMH Teaching Assistant – Monmouth Area
Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available

A respected school in the Monmouth area is looking for dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils aged 4 to 16 with a range of additional learning needs (ALN), including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (term-time only)
Both full-time and part-time positions available

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children and young people aged 4 to 16 with SEMH and other ALN needs. You’ll work either 1:1 or with small groups, helping pupils to feel safe, understood, and supported throughout their school day. You’ll be part of a close-knit team that values every member’s contribution to the wellbeing and success of its pupils.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and ALN needs in small groups or on a 1:1 basis

  • Assisting in the delivery of tailored learning and behaviour support plans

  • Helping students develop confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience

  • Creating a calm, consistent learning environment where pupils can thrive

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists

  • Contributing to the creation and review of personalised support strategies

Who We’re Looking For

  • A caring, adaptable individual with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

  • Experience in SEMH, SEN, care, or behavioural settings is highly desirable

  • Able to manage challenging behaviour with a calm, constructive approach

  • A reliable team player with strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Access to transport is helpful but not essential
