Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Social Worker to join the Newcastle City Council. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals who are passionate about supporting adults with complex needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Care Planning: Undertake assessments of adult service users, ensuring that care plans are tailored to meet individual needs and are in line with statutory requirements.
  • Safeguarding: Work in line with safeguarding protocols to protect vulnerable adults from harm and abuse.
  • Multi-disciplinary Collaboration: Liaise with health professionals, housing providers, and other relevant agencies to ensure comprehensive care packages.
  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of complex cases, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Support and Empowerment: Advocate for service users, empowering them to make decisions about their care and promoting independence wherever possible.
  • Review and Monitoring: Review care plans regularly to ensure that they remain relevant to service users' needs and adapt them as necessary.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all practice is compliant with relevant policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker: Must hold a Social Work degree or equivalent and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in adult social work for a local authority in the UK, ideally within an adult safeguarding or community care setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of adult safeguarding, mental capacity, the Care Act 2014, and relevant legislation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with service users, carers, and colleagues.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage a caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Driver’s License: A full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes may be required.
