1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Monmouth
Full-time role available

Are you a patient, adaptable, and caring individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with Autism? A group of small, supportive ALN (Additional Learning Needs) schools in Monmouth is seeking a full-time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils on an individual basis, helping them build confidence, independence, and a love for learning in a nurturing and understanding environment.

The schools are known for their inclusive ethos and strong sense of community, where every pupil’s progress is celebrated. As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Autism through patience, creativity, and consistency. You will work independently as well as collaboratively, using tailored strategies to enhance each learner’s development and help them reach their personal and academic goals. Working alongside teachers and therapists, you’ll help pupils communicate, regulate emotions, and thrive both in and outside the classroom.

Whether you have experience in education, care, or youth work, what truly matters is your passion for supporting children with additional needs and your commitment to making each day positive and meaningful for the pupils you work with. This 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who wants to grow their skills, gain hands-on experience, and make a lasting impact in specialist education.

What we’re looking for

To thrive as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:
• Have experience supporting children with Autism or other additional learning needs
• Be calm, empathetic, and patient in your approach
• Communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a small, collaborative team
• Be confident working independently to support and enhance learners’ development
• Show enthusiasm for learning and developing through training and hands-on experience
• Be reliable, flexible, and genuinely dedicated to the wellbeing and progress of pupils

What we offer

In return, the successful 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant will receive:
• A competitive daily rate between £88.92 and £101.92, depending on experience and qualifications
• Full-time hours and consistent work throughout the academic year
• Access to high-quality CPD and specialist Autism training
• Ongoing guidance and feedback from a dedicated education consultant
• Opportunities to build long-term experience within supportive ALN settings
• Weekly PAYE payments, pension contributions, and no hidden deductions
