An established and well-regarded organisation in the public/not-for-profit sector is looking to recruit a Finance Officer to join their small, busy finance team. This is a key role focused on maintaining robust financial systems, ensuring audit compliance, and supporting budgetary processes.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong grounding in finance who thrives on detail, enjoys systems-based work, and is confident to question and ensure compliance across departments.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £31k - £35.4k

Location: South London / Surrey Border

Hours: Full-time (Term-time only)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bank and control account reconciliations
  • Line management of a finance assistant responsible for transactional input
  • Oversight of internal financial processes and ensuring audit trail integrity
  • Posting of income and managing direct debits
  • Monitoring departmental budgets and expenditure commitments
  • Ensuring purchase orders, invoices, and payments are correctly authorised
  • Supporting external auditors during transaction checks and system reviews

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in a finance role (QBE or part-qualified considered)
  • Working knowledge of accruals, prepayments, and financial controls
  • Strong organisational skills with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset
  • Confidence to question inconsistencies and uphold process integrity
  • Comfortable managing a small team and working with colleagues across departments
