PMLD Teaching Assistant - Morden Area

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? We’re looking for a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in the Morden area.

About the Role PMLD Teaching Assistant:

You will be supporting students with complex needs including sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and medical needs. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Job Duties of a PMLD Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting students with their learning and daily routines

  • Assisting with personal care (toileting, feeding, changing)

  • Helping during therapy sessions (e.g. physio, hydrotherapy)

  • Using sensory activities and communication tools to engage pupils

  • Encouraging independence and building positive relationships

  • Working closely with teachers and other staff to meet student needs

  • Keeping track of progress and behaviour when needed

What We’re Looking For in a PMLD Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD, complex needs, or in a care-based setting (Essential)

  • A calm, nurturing approach and strong communication skills

  • A team player who’s not afraid to get stuck in

  • Manual handling and personal care experience is a plus
