Maintenance Technician – Gainsborough
Location: Gainsborough
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift Pattern: 4-on, 4-off (2 days, 2 nights – 6am to 6pm)

A leading international manufacturer within the food industry is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join its Engineering Team at a major production site in Gainsborough. This facility specialises in the production of food crumbing and coating products and plays a crucial role in supplying a wide range of food and beverage solutions worldwide.

The Role:

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for conducting preventative and reactive maintenance across the facility to ensure optimum equipment uptime and efficiency. You'll work as part of a proactive engineering team and play a vital role in minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled PPMs and reactive maintenance to ensure consistent production.
  • Comply with all health & safety regulations and company policies.
  • Complete and document risk assessments with appropriate control measures.
  • Lock off or repair any unsafe machinery immediately and notify relevant personnel.
  • Carry out fault finding and breakdown resolution, working closely with production teams to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Record all work completed, parts used, and observations accurately in the engineering log and computer systems.
  • Participate in project and improvement works to enhance equipment performance and plant reliability.
  • Complete and return PM sheets with recommendations for ongoing improvements.
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements:

We are looking for individuals with the right qualifications and hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment:

  • HNC, City & Guilds, or time-served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting – food industry experience is a strong advantage.
  • Electrically biased or multi-skilled (with mechanical capability).
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Experience using SAP or other CMMS systems is highly desirable.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: £36,000
  • Shift Allowance: £11,945
  • Total Earnings: £47,945
  • Matched pension up to 10%
  • Life assurance – 6x annual salary
  • 25 days annual leave (in addition to shift pattern)
  • Paid shutdown over Christmas (Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year’s Day)
  • Overtime available (paid at 1.35x standard rate)
