Our client, one of the largest M&E contractors in Scotland are delivering a major electrical installation package valued at 1.1 million for a new build school.
The project involves high-quality electrical works including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and data systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and client specifications.
Role Summary:
The Electrical Foreman will oversee the day-to-day management and supervision of electrical installation works on site. This role is key to ensuring that the electrical package is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Foreman will coordinate with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and suppliers, leading a team of electricians and labourers.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the electrical installation team on site.
Ensure all work is carried out safely in accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Plan and sequence work to meet project deadlines and milestones.
Monitor workmanship and quality of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 and relevant standards.
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to resolve technical and operational issues.
Manage material deliveries, tool allocations, and site logistics related to the electrical scope.
Conduct daily site briefings and toolbox talks.
Maintain accurate records of work progress, materials used, and labour hours.
Identify and report potential risks, delays, and issues promptly.
Train, mentor, and develop junior electricians and apprentices.
Ensure site is maintained in a clean and organised manner.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as an Electrical Foreman or Senior Electrician in M&E construction projects.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and installation techniques in commercial or educational buildings.
Familiarity with current electrical regulations, including BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and installation manuals.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid CSCS card and relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., 17th/18th Edition).
Competent in using site management and reporting tools.
Understanding of health and safety legislation including CDM Regulations.
