Project Manager – Civil Engineering (Highways)

Our client, a globally respected provider of engineering and infrastructure solutions, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their civil engineering team on a permanent basis, with a focus on highways projects across North Lanarkshire.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead delivery within a major, long-term framework agreement. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence, working towards delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, cost-effective delivery of projects while meeting all regulatory, contractual, and performance requirements. Due to the seniority of this position, demonstrable experience in managing civil engineering projects is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the estimating, planning, programming, and delivery of multiple projects
  • Liaise effectively with existing clients and develop new client relationships
  • Manage all aspects of health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ)
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting, driving financial performance
  • Supervise and support site teams and direct labour
  • Oversee commercial project elements including cost control and reporting
  • Produce reports and maintain accurate project records
  • Ensure delivery teams meet contractual and internal performance targets
  • Develop and manage staff training, development, and succession planning
  • Continuously monitor and improve Contract/Scheme KPIs
  • Ensure full compliance with company and client policies as well as statutory regulations

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent discipline)
  • Proven experience in managing a range of civil engineering projects
  • Strong technical expertise across all site-based civils activities
  • Previous experience in highways and infrastructure projects highly desirable
  • Commercially astute with strong financial management capability
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence
