We are looking for

A Production Technician to serve the packhouse and processing unit with graded product of the correct quality whilst running/maintaining the grading facility, staff and associated processes

Working hours: 5:00pm to 5:30am on 4on, 4off shift pattern

The position

  • Assist the Grader Operations Supervisor in achieving the best possible product quality post grading
  • Supervise the team in actively monitoring the productivity on the grading line and ensure the line is operating as efficiently as possible
  • Record all start up checks and change to and from organic products ensuring an adequate clean down process is undertaken before and after grading runs to avoid any possibility off cross contamination of products
  • Ensure grader beds and blades are cleaned when necessary and changed as and when required with this to be recorded when changed in the appropriate log
  • Monitor efficiencies of staff within your area and identify further training as and when required
  • Take ownership and be accountable of the product quality by actively undertaking quality control inspections, continually monitor and react to product quality throughout the grading run. 
  • Optimise conformance of graded product to the internal quality standards required by the business for supply into the packhouse or processing facility
  • Clearly and concisely communicate quality issues with other internal departments and ensure action is taken promptly to ensure timely resolution and aid the raw material escalation decision making process 
  • Ensure the calibration of the NIR grader internal cameras, external cameras and weigh cells are regularly undertaken and maintained
  • Arrange for broken metal screens to be repaired as soon as possible with a record of screens sent away for repair
  • Perform regular planned preventative and reactive maintenance of the graders when required
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Linkfresh computer system are utilised correctly by all staff
  • Assist and ensure that accurate information is provided to help complete grower outturn’s, labour costs and throughput analysis in a timely fashion
  • Ensure that the grading facilities cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained to a high level
  • Perform duties to a high standard and to ensure that quality assurance and improvement processes are implemented successfully across the Company, particularly those relating to own role
  • Organise foaming up & venting of the product post grading if required by liaising with the stock controller for location where the stock is to be placed
     

Person specification

  • Experience using production machinery with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment of frequent change is beneficial
  • Previous experience of supervising a team
  • Ability to prioritise workload as the working situation develops
  • Proactive approach to work as they will need to meet targets to ensure minimum downtime
  • Keen eye for detail when conducting checks on machinery and processing paperwork
  • Analytical mind and be able to troubleshoot problems
